"Standing By The Door exists to compassionately share faith that makes a difference in the lives of every person that we encounter."

The abuse of alcohol, and illicit drugs is costing our nation more than $700 billion annually in costs related to crime, lost work productivity and health care. Deaths from prescription drug and heroin overdoses have risen 14% since 2013. AND 22 Veterans of our Armed Forces commit suicide everyday.

About us

Our name comes from a poem written by Sam Shoemaker."I Stand at the Door"

I stand by the door. I neither go too far in, nor stay too far out.The door is the most important door in the world -It is the door through which men walk when they find God.There is no use my going way inside and staying there,When so many are still outside and they, as much as I,Crave to know where the door is and all that so many ever findIs only the wall where the door ought to be.They creep along the wall like blind men, with outstretched, groping hands,Feeling for a door, knowing there must be a door, yet they never find it.

So I stand by the door......

STANDING BY THE DOOR was formed by former leaders and members of Church Army Branson, on of the most effective and successful recovery programs in the United States from 2003 through 2012. In a cooperative effort with Church Army USA, Standing By The Door was developed in 2013 to carry on a tradition of faith based life instruction and compassionate fellowship with those needing guidance and direction to escape the horrors of the addictive lifestyle. Since that time, the ministry has evolved to include transitional housing for men as well as supportive and instructional services to all willing alcoholics and addicts.

This outreach as been blessed with steady growth during the past two years and has expanded both the diversity and scope of outreach to fulfill our mission statement, "Sharing faith that makes a difference". Our second men's house opened in November of 2015 and our first women's house is in the planning stage for 2016.

The leaders of Standing By The Door is comprised solely of former members of Church Army Branson and is 100% comprised of volunteers. Our leadership team works closely with members of our local Advisory Board and is accountable to our National Board of Directors. Funding sources are varied; these include private and governmental grants, foundations, tithes and offerings of our own and other churches along with earned income and individual contributions.
